Maths

At Longmadow we follow the Essentials Maths programme as developed by Herts For Learning. The children work through a set of planned sequences that build their learning and allow them opportunities to apply what has been taught.

This includes using a mastery approach in order to deliver the three aims of the National Curriculum, fluency, reasoning and problem-solving. These skills are embedded within Maths lessons and developed through fluency sessions.

We are committed to ensuring that children are able to recognise the importance of Maths in the wider world and that they are also able to use their mathematical skills and knowledge confidently in their lives in a range of different contexts. We want all children to enjoy Mathematics and to experience success in the subject, developing independence, confidence and competence.
